Fish Passage
Fish passage projects include everything from removing a dam to replacing road crossings. Anything that keeps fish from moving up and down a stream corridor is called a fish passage barrier. The MSG works to remove barriers and open up longer portions of streams for fish to utilize. Past projects have included replacing culverts that are too small or have become clogged, re-grading stream channels, and removing obstacles such as dams. Enhancing fish passage means there is better habitat for fish to spawn and feed, and more of it. This decreases crowding and promotes healthier water quality and fish populations.
